Support Worker

**About Me**

Hello I am a 57-year-old individual recognized as female, with schizoaffective disorder with periods of mania/hypermania and gender dysphoria, living in Mt Barker.

I am looking for self-reliant Support Workers to assist me in achieving my NDIS goals. I enjoy reading fashion magazines, I enjoy shopping and love looking at fashion and nail polish.

**The Role**

An opportunity is available to join my team of wonderful support workers who help to facilitate my daily life.

Due to some of the challenges I face, I have difficulties regulating my emotions and problem solving. In such situations, I would like you to be emphatic, patient and listen to me. It would be great if you can support me to problem solve. When I am heightened, I tend to talk about a topic repeatedly and raise my voice. Please recognize my condition and understand my situation.

To be successful in my team, you will need to be consistent, reliable, and highly passionate. I require assistance with day to day living which includes household tasks such as washing, support with community access such as shopping and attending appointments, cooking and/or meal preparation.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Support me to achieve my goals to reach my potential in all facets of my life.
- Actively engage in person centred active support.
- Undertake activities in a specialised area of supports.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Strong communication skills with my family members
- Assist in maintaining high standards to the household.
- Assist with meal preparation.
- Personal care
- Engage in participation in the community.

**Shifts**
I am looking for someone to support me on a casual basis for 5 hours on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday day from 10:00 am to 3 pm.
- NDIS Worker Screening or DHS Disability related check
- Current Driver's Licence and use of private car
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability/Aged Care) or other relevant qualification
- Medication administration

**About you**:
I am looking for a proactive person to join my team. A good match for me would be someone who has an efficient and confident approach in what they do and possesses a calm and patient nature. I am looking for a person who is understanding of my situation and has a high level on compassion.

**The Offer**
To get you started, we ensure that you are feeling comfortable and confident in the role. You will be offered full training by CLO which includes buddy shifts with my core team.

I usually plan my day well, but I need staff who is confident and resourceful. I would hope that we will develop a trusting relationship inclusive of my family members. We are looking for a person who will join the team for the long term.
