**How will I help?**

The Manager, Business Controls and Monitoring provides high quality first line risk guidance and support to Consumer Banking Services within Group Operations. This role plays a key part in the implementation, management and reporting of risk and compliance obligations in accordance with frameworks, policies, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and risk appetite of the Group. You will promote and drive a strong risk, compliance and controls culture to optimise risk/reward and help achieve business objectives. In concert with the Senior Manager, Business Controls and Monitoring, you will act as a point of contact, escalation and oversight for the business in relation to the management of incidents, issues, controls, emerging risks and compliance obligations.

You will enjoy partnering with stakeholders and bring a pragmatic approach to drive and develop a risk first culture and awareness in day-to-day business decisions and business strategic initiatives. This includes promoting and driving a robust risk and controls culture that optimises risk and reward, and ensures risk and compliance are key considerations in business decisions to help achieve business objectives.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Acting as a point of contact, escalation, and oversight for the business to provide advice on risks, obligations, controls, and policies. This includes overseeing incident and issue management, control assessments and uplift, supporting relevant Line of Business Value Chain assessments and deep dives, and embedding Westpac's customer outcomes and Risk Excellence Program.
- Providing risk expertise, insights and guidance to the BCM team and stakeholders to support pro-active consideration of risk and control implications in key projects and change management initiatives, process changes and strategic initiatives.
- Developing strong relationships with stakeholders and peers where you provide expertise to constructively challenge, coach and develop key stakeholders to understand and manage their risk and compliance obligations.
- Delivering uplift and continual improvement to optimise the control framework, with a focus on insights and automation.
- Oversight and contribution into risk and compliance reporting activities and dashboards.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with risk and compliance colleagues in Group Operations BCM, 2nd and 3rd Line and relevant Lines of Business.

**What do I need?**

Relevant industry qualifications in risk, compliance, legal or finance and experience supporting change initiatives and risk in change are highly desired.

Your analytical and critical thinking ability, risk and compliance knowledge and exceptional communication skills, will help you succeed in this role.
