**About the opportunity**
An exciting permanent, full-time opportunity exists for an appropriately experienced and qualified Coordinator Events and Protocol to join the Events and Sister Cities section at Blacktown City Council. You should be creative, proactive, community-focused and able to prioritise multiple projects at one time. Your primary role is to lead and coordinate the events team in the delivery and planning of Council's events and functions throughout the year.
In addition to the delivery of the annual events calendar, you will be responsible for coordinating the arrangements of any Civic Ceremonies, Official Visits and Openings. You will manage and facilitate the bookings of the Blacktown Showground precinct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of The Colebee Function Centre at Nurragingy Reserve.
You will be responsible to produce a calendar of events that is strategically aligned to the Blacktown City vision and advise on the best way to develop and deliver high-quality events throughout the year. You will network with internal and external stakeholders and provide strategic advice to the Manager of Events and Sister Cities on relevant policies and procedures that must be adhered to.
In addition to your primary role, you will be required to be Master of Ceremonies at events, attend meetings with the Mayor and Councillors, conduct school talks and be available to work variable after hours on weekdays and weekends.
The successful applicant should also have knowledge of website publishing, digital communications and event software programs such as Bookable and Eventdraw
**Qualifications and experience**
**Essential**:
- Degree qualification in event management or related field
- Solid demonstrated experience delivering high quality events designed for community engagement
- Demonstrated project management skills utilised in the delivery of large-scale community events and festivals
- Extensive demonstrated experience in leading, motivating and developing an events team
- Extensive experience in managing event budgets, resources and calendar needs for multiple events
- Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery of successful community events including negotiation of project deliverables
- Demonstrated experience in time management to ensure the coordination and planning of multiple events and projects
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
- Current class C driver's licence.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
**Desirable**:
- Postgraduate qualification
- Experience in coordinating tenders and contracts for event management
- Experience in coordinating civic event functions such as Citizenship Ceremonies, Civic Receptions and Official Visits from national and international visitors.
**Remuneration and benefits**
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $2,008.70 per week
