THE OPPORTUNITY
This is an exciting opportunity to work on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie immune diseases such as allergy and autoimmunity. The research assistant will be working under the supervision of Prof Tri Phan and A/Prof Elissa Deenick whose labs are part of the Precision Immunology program at Garvan.

The projects will involve analysing lymphocyte function in samples from individuals with immune diseases such as allergy and autoimmunity as well as mouse models of disease.

**Salary**: $71,278 + super + salary packaging

Employment Type: One-year, fixed-term, fulltime contract

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Conduct experiments under supervision such as tissue culture, flow cytometry, maintenance and monitoring of mouse colonies and routine assays
- Record experimental procedures and results
- Regularly attend lab meetings
- Be involved in junior lab responsibilities such as:

- Store duties, wash-up and cleaning of shared rooms
- Stock control: monitoring and ordering consumables under supervision
- Media preparation
- Responsible for imparting knowledge in relation to limited skills or experimental expertise

ABOUT YOU
- Essential_
- Bachelors' Degree in Science or Medicine (with Honours), preferably in immunology or a related field
- Experience with multiparameter flow cytometry
- Experience working with human blood samples or mouse tissue samples
- Experience with tissues culture
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Desirable: _
- Experience with handling mice
- Experience with molecular techniques e.g. RNA prep, PCR
- Experience with Flowjo
