**Position Information**:
Sydney Secondary College, Leichhardt Campus is a partially selective co-educational middle school which caters for students from Year 7 to Year 10 and is located in the inner west. The school has an enrolment of 840 students and includes a support unit with a designated Head Teacher for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and autism. The student body consists of 4.7% students from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background. A commitment to innovative, rigorous and evidence-based teaching and learning underpins the directions of the school. There are strong links to the broader community and a highly effective and involved P & C. All Sydney Secondary College Principals work together through the College Management Group to enact their responsibility for effective collegiate decision-making. The College fosters cross campus teaching opportunities for experienced and early career staff to work proactively together across middle and senior school settings.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- High level interpersonal and organisational skills to lead a wellbeing team with a range of experiences and abilities and build their capacity to support the wellbeing of a diverse range of students.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders to case manage students with complex emotional, behavioural and learning needs to ensure optimal student attendance and continuity of learning.
- Proven ability to develop, implement and monitor high quality, evidence based school-wide wellbeing policies and practices that support wellbeing outcomes for students and staff.
- High level leadership skills to work collaboratively with the school's executive team to create and maintain a culture of high expectations and excellence in teaching and learning.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
