What to Expect
The Commercial Development Manager is a senior role in Tesla's utility-scale project sales and business development team, responsible for leading all pre-contract commercial activities.

What You'll Do
- Support Sales team by incorporating Tesla's standard terms and conditions into project proposals for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the National Electricity Market (NEM)
- Lead commercial negotiations of Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts and ensure commercial terms are reflected in Balance of Plant (BOP) sub-contracts to minimise gap risk for Tesla
- Lead commercial negotiations for other contracts including Long Term Services, Equipment Supply, Software as a Service (SaaS) and Off-takes etc
- Proactively manage external and internal stakeholder engagement to achieve timely close-out of contracts
- Identify project commercial, technical and delivery risks, develop effective mitigations and negotiate appropriate risk allocation between the parties
- Preparation and presentation of deal parameters to secure relevant executive approvals
- Provide leadership to and closely collaborate with a multi-functional team comprising Sales, Legal, Engineering, Deployment, Service, Finance etc, both local and at US headquarters
- Identify opportunities to implement continuous improvement and best practice

What You'll Bring
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business or Finance
- At least 8+ years commercial experience in large complex projects ($100m +) in the Australian energy sector
- Expertise in negotiating project-financed assets and an understanding of the bankability requirements and risk profile of such contracts
- Excellent communication and influencing skills; experienced in building strong working relationships and comfortable interacting with Senior Management
- Highly driven, can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and deal with ambiguity based on a "can-do", solutions-oriented attitude
