Securities Lending Trader

We are looking for a Sydney-based Securities Lending trader to help drive sustained business growth and increased profitability for the Equity Finance business within Commodities and Global Markets Equity Derivatives Trading. You will be focused on sourcing and distributing stock for our external clients and internal trading desks, as well as managing funding, liquidity and various risks for the business.

**Key Accountabilities / Principal Responsibilities**
- Originate, identify and execute on profitable trading opportunities across Equity Finance products (Securities Lending, Repo and Synthetic Financing), in collaboration with trading team members.
- Management and optimisation of equity inventory, with a focus on best execution, rate management, funding and capital usage.
- Highlight upcoming, live and post trade trading risks, trading catalysts and opportunities to key stake holders across the group.
- Work with the Equity Finance team to maintain and actively develop existing as well as new trading counterparty relationships with brokers, banks, custodial lenders, pension funds, other sources of supply & funding.
- Ensure trading risks are foreseen, managed and escalated within the group framework and best trading practice is observed, including, but not limited to.
- Improve operational efficiency of front-office activities by:

- leveraging tactical tools for process automation and analytics
- engaging with wider team on strategic system enhancement and development
- Identify operational risks and enhance controls to ensure they are mitigated.
- Partner with sales and other business areas to distribute products aligned to Macquarie's competitive advantages.

**Key **Skills and Knowledge Areas**
- At least 2 years' experience and a good understanding of equity markets and products.
- Understanding of, and/or a desire to learn about, Securities Lending/Repo and Equity Swaps.
- Corporate actions knowledge or experience of corporate actions in a trading environment is desirable.
- Experience dealing with clients and other external parties and stakeholders.
- Strong numerical and problem-solving skills and a high level of proficiency in Excel.
- A disciplined approach to risk management and the ability to intuitively understand and evaluate risk versus reward.
- High level of diligence and accuracy.
- Ability to understand and navigate the structural and regulatory environment in different markets.
- Ability to demonstrate effective teamwork and work well under pressure.
- Experience in dealing with external clients and counterparties, including marketing, trade structuring and relationship management.
- Coding skills in Python would be advantageous.
