Brisbane Central State School is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Schools Officer to help maintain our vibrant and heritage-listed school environment. This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.
This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Brisbane Central is one of the oldest state schools in Queensland that is still operating, proudly celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. The successful applicant will need to be able to manage the maintenance of facilities including buildings, environment and classroom.
Responsibilities
Carry out a range of day-to-day activities including delivering and collecting mail, parcels and documents; recording and delivering messages; printing and photocopying; preparing classrooms for examinations; preparing activity/assembly halls, including moving/arranging furniture and seating; removing and relocating furniture; general store duties including receipting, opening up, checking, storing and distributing school supplies and assets; maintaining various registers; stocktaking and recording/engraving of equipment and assets.
Support a variety of security duties at the school involving use and maintenance of security systems; banking of school funds (transport and depositing funds at the appropriate banking institution); and locking and unlocking buildings within core hours.
Assist with duties including clearing and hosing drains and gutters; collection of waste; undertaking cleaning duties outside normal operating hours; coordinating removal and disposal of rubbish as required; assist with requirements for significant events such as fetes, plays and major sporting events.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements including maintenance of a safe work environment; safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuel; identify and report safety hazards; manage equipment records; maintain tools and equipment for repair services (per manufacturers\' service manuals).
