**Who are we looking for?**

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Equity Project Officer to join Office of the Vice-President (Administration) and University Registrar, Administrative Division.

The Equity Project Officer will support Equity initiatives including operationalising the LGBTIQA+ Action Plan to ensure all students and staff experience an inclusive learning and work environment which respects diversity. The Project Officer provides pro-active and organised project coordination to meet the objectives of the LGBTIQA+ Action Plan and will work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including the LGBTIQA+ Working Party, QUT Staff Pride Network, QUT Guild, Marketing and Communications, University and Faculty Equity Committees and Human Resources.

We're offering this role as a hybrid position as part of QUT's commitment to embracing the opportunities created by a more virtual and connected world.

**Real world impact**

QUT is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a 'real world' focus. We are an ambitious and collaborative institution that seeks to equip our students and graduates with the skills they will need in an increasingly disrupted and challenged world.

The Student Services and Wellbeing portfolio leads the university-wide strategy and coordination of all non-academic matters related to the student experience. The portfolio delivers a range of services across the student life cycle, as well as providing advice and leadership to the university on a broad range of student and staff matters, including social justice and public policy.

The departments within the portfolio include: Student Administration, Student Engagement, Equity, Student Services and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE). The portfolio also has strong links to and works closely with QUT's Oodgeroo Unit, Student Success Group and Human Resources.

The portfolio is focused on delivering services to support the university's commitment to an exceptional student experience, leading to positive outcomes in success, retention and completion. This includes developing a campus culture which is inclusive, safe, and respectful for all students and staff.

Equity services aims to ensure that our students and staff mirrors the diversity of the community outside the university, and that all students and staff thrive, regardless their background. The team oversees a wide range of inclusive programs and promotes respectful campus culture.

**What you need to succeed**

This role is dynamic and collaborative, and you will enjoy delivering service and operational excellence that ensures an exceptional experience for QUT students.

You will demonstrate:

- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a degree with subsequent relevant experience.
- Knowledge of the issues that impact LGBTIQA+ staff and students and experience working with the LGBTIQA+ community.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of equity and diversity principles and social justice frameworks which will enable the appointee to assist with implementing equal employment opportunity, equity and diversity policy at an everyday operational level.
- Proven ability to coordinate projects and promote teamwork.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills that will enable effective communication, collaboration and maintenance of productive working relationships with staff, students and community stakeholders from diverse backgrounds regardless of level within organisation.
- Proven ability to use initiative to plan and prioritise work to meet tight deadlines whilst operating under minimum supervision and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
