Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Hsbc Full time

Some career choices have more impact than others.

We're looking for progressive minds who are driven and forward-thinking, who are open to different ideas and cultures, who can connect with customers and colleagues and who'll work with courageous integrity every day.

As an HSBC employee in Australia, you'll have access to tailored professional development opportunities, competitive pay, an embedded flexible working culture and a range of employee benefits. These include market-leading subsidised private health cover, enhanced parental pay and support when returning to work, subsidised banking products and services and wellness programmes including discounted gym memberships.

Compliance is a global function that brings together all aspects of regulatory and financial crime risk management. Acting as risk stewards, and incorporating a range of specialist teams, we work together with the business and leverage advanced technology to help HSBC navigate a complex regulatory landscape and embed a sustainable approach to compliance risk management that supports safe growth and serves customers fairly. Compliance aspires to continuously raise the bar and set leading standards across the industry to help HSBC safeguard its customers and the communities within which it operates.

The Compliance Assurance (CA) team contributes to the global standardised CA approach, ensuring alignment to the bank's Risk Management Framework. Taking on this role, you will contribute to the provision of independent and objective assessment of the effectiveness of Regulatory Compliance (RC) and Financial Crime (FC) controls, delivering effective end-to-end assurance outcomes across the bank. In doing so, you will combine your experience in an audit and assurance environment, your inquiring mind and your ability to effectively build and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Your main responsibilities will include:

- Execute the global CA strategy in-country to assess the risks and effectiveness of controls in the First Line of Defence and Second Line of Defence.
- Informing Risk Owners, Control Owners and Risk Stewards of the design and operational effectiveness of the controls within their area of oversight and control.
- Escalating significant control deficiencies in a timely manner.
- Proactively identifying key emerging compliance risks across the Global Businesses/ Functions.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Experience and understanding of regulatory compliance and/or financial compliance risk and audit / assurance activities within the financial services industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with very strong interpersonal skills providing the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Capability to build positive and resilient partnerships with key stakeholders, while maintaining independence.
- A lateral thinking style, with natural curiosity and the ability to interpret and solve complex issues, focusing on the detail.
- Ability to work autonomously, with a proactive approach to your work.
- Experience in data analytics would be useful but not essential.

HSBC is committed to building a culture where all employees are valued and respected and where opinions count. We take pride in providing a workplace that fosters continuous professional development, flexible working and opportunities to grow in an inclusive environment.
