Assistant Director to support agenda on Medicare reform for a 6-month contract

**Your new company**

This Government Department is working at the forefront of delivering a high level of policies and programs to the public contributing to their health and well-being. Currently, they have a need for a high performing Assistant Director to join the team to work on a number of ongoing health reforms that aim to improve patient health outcomes and provide new funding packages to primary care providers through policy design and implementation.

**Your new role**

You will be brought on board to support the section to develop and implement complex policy to support Medicare reform measures. This will entail managing and monitoring program outcomes and reporting on performance. Additionally, providing expertise and analyses on the potential impacts of proposed policies or regulatory changes will be part of your role alongside developing policy artefacts such as papers, guidelines and other ministerial and cabinet documentation to support this change. As this role will involve liaison with other officers within the Department and externally, strong coordination and highly developed written as well as verbal communication skills are a must whilst having the ability to work independently and as part of a small team to deliver results.

**What you'll need to succeed**

To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing individual with exceptional policy development skills. As well as this, you will portray:

- Government writing, including the ability to develop high level briefs, submissions, and general correspondence.
- The ability to break down and assess complex work processes.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills of a high order and an ability to work in a small but busy team.
- Manage effective working relationships with internal staff, senior executives and external stakeholders throughout relevant jurisdictions and the Commonwealth.
