Founded in 1971, our business provides nationwide service with 34 branches across Western Australia, Queensland, Northern Territory, South Australia and Victoria.Location: Perth, Melbourne or BrisbaneAbout the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Data Engineer to drive the migration and optimization of Centurion's modern data platform, leading the transition from legacy systems while building new data capabilities that enable advanced analytics and operational excellence.This role offers the rare chance to be a part of something significant - transforming a function into a strategic differentiator.
You'll have management support and modern tools to shape how a leading logistics company uses data to compete and win.Key ResponsibilitiesLead migration of critical data workloads from SQL Server to Snowflake, refactoring legacy views and stored procedures into modern dbt models.Optimize existing Snowflake platform for performance and cost efficiency while maintaining high reliability for critical pipelines.Design and build new data products for emerging business needs.Implement modern data modelling approaches for scalable and maintainable self-service data products.Implement comprehensive data quality monitoring and automated monitoring and testing frameworks.Create reusable patterns and frameworks that accelerate development capability and scale across the team.Build data observability dashboards and automated alerting for proactive issue detection.Partner with data analysts to enable advanced analytics and self-service data access.Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.Drive enhanced standards for documenting and tracking data lineage, business logic, and technical designs.Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceSignificant experience in a data engineering role at a senior level.Strong track record in change management, coupled with proven success in stakeholder engagement.Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, together with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Ability to lead and mentor a team.Strong SQL and modern data stack experience (Snowflake and dbt)Proficiency with the Fivetran ETL tool and Python programming for data pipelines and automationDemonstrated expertise in data modelling, including dimensional and medallion architecturesWhy Join Centurion?
