**The role**
As the **Head Technical Operator** (Venue Head Mechanist) you will be responsible for general operations and day to day activities within the staging team. This role will assist the Theatre Technical Manager with coordinating in-house staging resources, leading the back of house staging team, reviewing, and providing technical requirements for touring shows, act in required staging roles during shows, roster, and act as a senior point of contact for casual staging staff.

In this role, you'll provide joyful experiences through your genuine care for guests. As well as:

- Supervise all technical aspects of Theatre BOH staging operations
- Contribute to staging technical planning process to ensure venue is maintained and developed to meet artistic and business needs
- Liaise with external and internal clients, suppliers, production companies and/or touring production managers to ensure the staging technical aspects are delivered
- Assist in scheduling and rostering of staging resources to meet requirements for all Theatre events/shows
- Co-ordinate staging and technical bump in/bump out of shows, coordinating services and overseeing operations.
- Manage the continuous improvement of team performance, practice and processe
- Contribute to staff recruitment and induction process as required

**About you**
You'll bring the following:

- 5 years senior technical staging experience with an emphasis on Theatre Stage productions
- 12 months experience in administrative functions including rostering, register creation/maintenance
- Ability to analyse problems and identify solutions
- Demonstrated experience leading a team
- Knowledge of and commitment to Occupational Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity, and Ethical practice
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organisational ability including time management, task prioritisation and resource scheduling
- Experience in the use of CAD design programs and reading of CAD plans (desired)

**Additional Information**:
This role requires:

- Tertiary Qualification in specialised field (Staging)/Technical Theatre or equivalent experience
- Qualified rigger certification (desired)
- First Aid Certification (desired)
- Forklift and EWP License
