**The role**:
As the Policy and Projects Lead at South East Water you will have responsibility for delivering projects, providing technical input, developing policy recommendations and managing internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of the Greater Melbourne Urban Water System Strategy (Water for Life) while delivering on the ongoing team objectives.

Your responsibilities will be, but not limited to
- Establish, interpret and challenge policy as it relates to water resource management
- Prepare policy papers, submissions, briefs, memoranda and letters of reply on complex policy issues
- Lead cross business water resource activities, including those related to dry conditions preparedness, water efficiency and long term strategic initiatives.
- Undertake water efficiency strategic planning, implementation and evaluation including internal and external stakeholder engagement
- Develop strategies for and manage activities related to water trading
- Develop and lead internal programs to achieve strategic outcomes
- Influence programs externally, through effective stakeholder engagement, to enable aligned policy with South East Water business directions

**Who are you?**:
To be successful in this position you will have;
- A relevant qualification in science and/or engineering
- Post graduate qualifications in law, policy, business or economics will be highly regarded.
- Ability to coordinate, plan and manage multiple projects with diverse stakeholders simultaneously.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with an ability to lead stakeholder engagement to effect long lasting relationships and enable mutually acceptable outcomes
- High level of data analysis, interpretation and validation skills
- Ability to draw conclusions and makes high quality recommendations on the basis of data analysis and research
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to tailor an effective message for a specific audience, including;
- Preparation of reports, presentations and responses on complex technical issues that are of a suitable standard to be published by South East Water
- Briefing notes and memorandums for senior levels or government
- Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in the water resource planning and related areas
- An understanding of the Victorian water sector, environmental management, policy development processes and strategic planning processes
- Some understanding in integrated water management and water efficiency
- Knowledge of South East Water's Statement of Obligations, the Water Act, and related legislation
- This role also requires some knowledge of water resource management, integrated water management, water efficiency and alternative water servicing.
