**About the role**

As the Fostering Case Worker, you will be reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for monitoring the quality of care being provided to children and young people living in family-based placements. This position will require travel dependant on business needs. This position will include min of 38 hours, per fortnight.

Family Finding Position Responsibilities:

- Engage and support family members to build their connection and capacity to either connect or provide a care arrangement for young people in out of home care.
- Develop comprehensive Family Finding Reports to be shared with Child Safety and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain effective time management skills and detailed record keeping.
- Collaborate with key community support services to negotiate family support plans and undertake placement coordination activities that meet the individual needs of the child, young person, adult and their family.
- Work sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children, young people, families and communities to provide culturally inclusive services and achieve sustainable outcomes within a culturally safe environment; assist to reduce the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in care; work collaboratively with communities to keep children and families safe and connected to culture.
- Work collaboratively with communities to keep children and families safe and perform position responsibilities in accordance with the Sanctuary Model of Care framework.
- Ensure financial targets in areas of responsibility are met; comply with acquittal and funding agreement requirements and ensure corrective action is implemented.

**Other Responsibilities**

No two days will be the same in this diverse role, however, your day-to-day responsibilities can include:

- Coordinating the referral and placement processes;
- Undertaking initial and renewal carer assessments;
- Delivering carer recruitment, training, support and monitoring;
- Using a range of crisis intervention and therapeutic approaches to support Foster and Kinship Carer families caring for children and young people;
- Collaboration with key community support services
- Provide direct in-home and flexible support services to Foster and Kinship Carer families, including the provision of after-hours or 'or-call' services on a rotational basis, or as required.

You are passionate about the welfare of children & young people and achieving the absolute best outcomes for them. With an empathetic nature you are compassionate toward vulnerable individuals. You are approachable, and a good problem solver who is able to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.

Excellent interpersonal skills are part of your skillset enabling you to build rapport with internal and external people and stakeholders easily. In addition, you have comprehensive knowledge of legislative requirements and can promote a culture of compliance.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

- Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or a related discipline;
- Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks;
- Demonstrated experience in providing training and a range of supports including positive behaviour support, crisis management and self-care strategies;
- Possess or have the ability to acquire a National Police Chec
