**About the role**

The GIS Technician is responsible for the provision of geospatial and/or mapping services in support of the efficient, accurate and timely recording, maintenance and provision of asset information.

**Key Responsibilities include**
- Undertake programmed and ad-hoc mapping projects to a high cartographic standard.
- Provide mapping services in support of both routine and non-routine construction projects as well as other field operations as required.
- Ensure that the capture, maintenance, and integrity of data meets business and statutory requirements.
- Ensure that by following appropriate data management principals, all relevant Jemena staff have timely access to current and relevant asset plans and information.
- Ensure that the capture, maintenance, and integrity of spatial data meet business and statutory requirements, including direct liaison with external parties and Jemena stakeholders and field personnel.
- Ensure that related systems and record repositories are appropriately updated, and manage relationships to the GIS (e.g. Drawbridge, SAP, ECMS).
- Monitor and audit the accuracy of information, and the processes by which this data is added to the geospatial systems, to ensure that it meets Jemena business requirements and is compliant with data management procedures.

**About You**
- Understanding of data integrity and its contribution to business outcomes.
- Appreciation of information management, including data structures and hierarchies and end to end workflow processes.
- Working knowledge of the use of GIS in utilities, and associated processes (3-5 years).
- Experience interpreting technical drawings/documentation (particularly underground assets).
- Sound cartographic/drafting and spatial reasoning skills, with experience applicable to Jemena's geospatial systems.
- High level of technical specialist skills in GIS/Drafting software.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, particularly written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to convert technical concepts into simple language and an ability to adapt to a changing work environment including technology.
