**The Role**:
AARNet is seeking a Construction Drafter within the Infrastructure Development Group (IDG) to work within the Geographical Information Systems Team, assisting us deliver next the generation of telecommunication services to Australia's academic and research sector.

The role will require you to collaborate with skilled engineers, technicians, analysts and construction managers to design, deploy and manage our growing national optical network. Your aptitude for design and drafting will be key to your ability to support the successful delivery of infrastructure for a range of customers across Australia including regional schools, major universities and innovative research centres.

**Responsibilities**:
As construction drafter, you will work with a team of other drafters and technicians to provide prompt and efficient geospatial support and knowledge to the Infrastructure Development group. Your experience using AutoCAD products like Map 3D or Civils 3D to create design drawings, blocks and paginating completed drawings will ensure you are able to successfully support the design team.

An understanding of coordinate systems and experience working with geospatial datasets in various formats will enable you to work effectively with data from a variety of sources, combining them to create drawings and maps that effectively communicate our requirements with both internal and external stakeholders.

Having strong time management skills and experience managing competing priorities will enable you to effectively support multiple projects and managers. In a hybrid work setting, your ability to confidently work independently will be crucial.

**Expertise, experience & qualifications**:

- You are an Australian citizen
- You have experience with AutoCAD & ArcGIS
- You have experience working with geospatial datasets in various formats
- Previous experience with Oracle Spatial database is advantageous
- You are confident working independently
- You have solid communication skills
- You demonstrate great attention to detail
- Previous experience in the utilities industry is advantageous
