About us

Fieldwork Coffee is a small-scale, quality-focused and future-minded coffee roaster located in Melbourne. We strive to source the world's best coffees and share them with our webshop, wholesale, and coffee shop customers around Australia and overseas. In doing so, we hope to champion the work of growers we buy from, establish a small network of long-term, equitable purchasing relationships, and share those coffees with knowledge and humility.

About the positions

Our coffee shops are our front-line of engagement with our customers, and the most tangible representation of both our coffee and our values. We're looking for an experienced Barista to join our team, providing our customers with drinks of an exceptional standard, helping guests with retail purchases, and serving a small range of food items.

The specific responsibilities of the roles will include (but are not limited to);
- Preparing and serving coffee drinks of exceptional quality to established, agreed standards
- Preparing and serving other drinks and products with care and attention
- Ensuring our customers receive sincere and thoughtful service, from takeaway drinks through to coffee bean and equipment purchases
- Taking direction from our Shop Supervisor on daily tasks, processes, and operations
- Working closely with our Retail Operations Manager to learn about our changing coffee range, and what makes each coffee special
- Receiving and putting away deliveries
- Setting up and closing down of the coffee shop and any kitchen or customer spaces
- Regular cleaning of coffee shop surfaces, tables, fridges, and toilets
- Sweeping and mopping floors on a daily basis

The roles will suit you if;
- You have at least one year's experience serving high end coffee
- You get excited about things that taste great, and want to know more about how they're made
- You're adaptable and willing to experiment, but can follow clear instructions closely
- You're keen to learn more about coffee
- You thrive in a small team environment, lending a hand wherever it's needed
- You're a clear, thoughtful communicator
- You have an innate desire to do things 'the right way'
- You value service, provenance, and quality
