**About the Role**
Reporting to the Corporate Communications and External Affairs Manager, the Communications Specialist's role will assist in the delivery of corporate communications strategies (internal and external) and creating content to support Southern Ports' objectives, strengthen its role as a trusted Port Authority and support its strategic direction.

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for the development and/or production of internal and external communications strategy, campaigns and materials, supporting the Corporate Communications and External Affairs Manager to build regional and industry reputation and develop strong brand awareness and understanding.

This position will coordinate a range of communication initiatives, striving to build a cohesive workforce across multiple locations. The position will also contribute to the development of content for all Southern Ports' communication channels and support the various project teams within the organisation to support positive communications outcomes.

**Key Duties**
- Generate, prepare and contribute content for Southern Ports' internal and external communication channels.
- Develop and/or manage production of visually engaging communications and marketing materials.
- Plan content, write copy and contribute to the production of corporate publications.
- Contribute to communications planning across media, marketing, design and digital.
- Collaborate with other staff in the development and delivery of internal and external communication plans.
- Report, analyse and present results of communication efforts.

**Expertise**
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or equivalent is desirable.
- A minimum of five (5) years' relevant industry experience in a public relations, communications or related role
- Experience in digital communications for external and internal audiences
- Experience in using content management systems and social media platforms
- Experience in campaign development and event coordination
- Experience in copywriting and production
- Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels of a business
- Intermediate to high level of skill in using the Microsoft Office suite of software
- Demonstrated understanding of corporate communications tools including those for web, social and print mediums
- Intermediate level of skill in using Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to draft and edit written material.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and flexibly, as well as cooperatively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to organise work, manage time, determine priorities, and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with government processes and protocols is desirable.

**Requirements**:
To be eligible for this permanent full time role, applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to Albany, Bunbury, Esperance or Perth and provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency. The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
