About the role
- To ensure the complete and accurate clinical classification for all inpatient episodes to meet the data reporting requirements of Queensland Health.
- An Advanced Clinical Coder is acknowledged as having high level clinical coding skills and knowledge, across a broad range of specialties in a tertiary setting, including Activity Based Funding, through extensive on the job experience.
- Undertake auditing activities, data verification and clinical liaison to ensure the quality and timeliness of inpatient morbidity data.
- Provide ongoing engagement, as part of a collaborative team approach, to clinicians and clinical programs regarding coding, documentation, education and the health informatics needs of the hospital.

- High level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with ability to liaise with staff at all levels in relation to clinical coding, documentation and ABF
- Demonstrated ability to use or quickly acquire the skills to use relevant software including HBCIS, 3M Codefinder, word processing, spreadsheets and other relevant software as required
