**This opportunity**
The **Telecommunication Technician** position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a range of telecommunication services supplied to residential (consumer) and corporate (business) customers. This role involves working with customer internal cabling, customer personal equipment, as well as TPG, Telstra and NBN infrastructure. Providing on-site technical support such as service installation and troubleshooting service issues are the main responsibilities of this role.
This position operates in a dynamic environment and may occasionally require work outside of ordinary hours to meet customer needs. This role requires travel to customers' homes/properties, workplaces occupied by business customers and sites such as Telstra exchanges where TPG house its equipment.

- Perform on-site installation and maintenance of equipment and components (eg, wiring, cabling, telecommunication instruments, modems & routers). Installation of jumpers from Telstra to customer pairs at the Telstra MDF. Configuration of TPG and customer routers.
- Comprehensively carry out line testing to determine the source of a fault and report findings to TPG's engineering department.
- Be prepared and complete all assigned work orders as scheduled and service urgent jobs requested by the CTG Scheduling Team and Team Leaders.
- Effectively prioritise and consistently complete daily tasks in accordance with standard procedures.
**Knowledge and experience**
- Certificate IV in Telecommunications Engineering Technology
- Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology
- Certificate III in Telecommunications Cabling and Customer Premises Equipment
- Certificate IV in Telecommunications Access Planning
- ACMA Cabling License is required
- 2-5 years Telecommunications industry experience or other related work experience
- Communications wiring standards and installations principles
- Telecommunications switching and common control systems
- Codes, regulations, and standards related to wiring and electrical work
- Diagnostics and fault troubleshooting
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the role such as standing, bending, and lifting for duration of the shift
