**About Morling College**

Morling College is the Baptist Theological College of NSW and ACT. In 2021 it merged with Vose Seminary, the Baptist Theological College of WA, and thus operates across campuses in both states. It is a third-party provider of the Australian College of Theology for its theological awards. It is also a Registered Institute of Higher Education for postgraduate awards in Education and graduate and postgraduate awards in Counselling, Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care, and Professional Supervision. These courses are all taught by Christians for Christians.

**About Morling Residential College (MRC)**

MRC is part of Morling College and is located in Macquarie Park in Sydney's North-Western suburbs. MRC provides accommodation to 96 residents. Residents primarily study at Macquarie University and Morling College. The community is culturally and socially diverse and residents come from many countries and various faith backgrounds. The MRC staff team is comprised of the Dean of Residents, Chaplain, Residential Manager, Residential Service Officers, Senior Residential Assistant, Residential Assistants, and Duty Managers.

**About The Role**

The primary objective of the Morling Residential College (MRC) Residential Assistant (RA) is to build and promote a vibrant community in MRC conducive to the spiritual, physical, mental and social well-being of residents.

The MRC RA is responsible for caring for residents, and for fostering community engagement and connection. Each RA will be allocated a specific number of permanent residents for whom they are responsible for providing care, and for checking in with them regularly. RAs are also responsible for supporting new residents and first year students in MRC as they transition to life in Sydney and often require additional support. It is expected that the RA will attend community events, be involved in organising them, and utilise formal and informal opportunities for connection with residents.

The RA is expected to provide general academic guidance to residents, sharing their own experience and the strategies that they have used effectively with other residents. As student leaders in the community, the RA is expected to model behaviour, through example and persuasion, in line with MRC policies, procedures and guidelines.

The MRC SRA will be set at Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award classification General Staff, level 2.2. The role is part-time and involves an average of 7 hours per week (0.184 FTE) with some flexibility in the distribution of hours. There will be additional duty manager shifts each week. These shifts will be paid as a two (2) hour block per shift based on Shiftworker General Staff Level 2.2 of the Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award with increases applied as per award penalty rates.
