We have an exciting opportunity available for an Asset Planning Engineer to join the APA Networks team in Thomastown, VIC, on a permanent full-time basis.
Reporting directly to the Team Leader Asset Planning, you provide engineering expertise for the development of asset management strategies for the gas distribution network.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a wide range of asset strategies balancing Cost, Risk and Performance
Monitor existing network performance, maintain network capacity models to identify gas supply risks to existing customers and lead emergency load management
Develop and optimise network augmentation designs and business cases for organic growth and major customer changes in conjunction with the commercial and energy transition departments
Provide capacity assessment and engineering support of new biogas and hydrogen projects
Asset management plans, input into capital expenditure plans and pressure surveillance strategies, as well as develop gas network asset lifecycle strategies aimed at optimising asset value and reducing costs
Mains replacement programme of works, develop replacement strategies and optimise mains replacement designs
Your background
Tertiary engineering qualifications with quality postgraduate experience
Gas industry and asset management of gas assets is an advantage
Detailed knowledge of gas network, pipelines and associated infrastructure design, construction and maintenance policies, procedures and practices is preferred
Working knowledge of gas hydraulic modelling packages for steady state and transient flow modelling preferred
Experience with developing and utilising utility-based asset management systems, processes and tools is desirable
Experience with analysis of data and information management is desirable

Networks manages and operates local distribution networks and transmission pipelines that deliver gas to around 1.4 million households and businesses across Australia.
