Laboratory Technical Operator

About the company and role:We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Practical Scientist/engineerto join an R&D team developing advanced solutions for green iron technology.
The laboratory is in the northern suburbs of Perth.
This is a great opportunity to develop your chemistry experience, providing scientific/technical support and service activities in a research laboratory setting.Recent graduates with a strong work ethic and communication skills are encouraged to apply.
This is a 5-month contract, with shift patterns of either Monday-Friday or Thursday-Monday (5/2) (to provide weekend cover – the roster will initially be Monday-Friday the first fortnight during induction and training).
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Monitor/conduct tests, analyses, and measurements within R&D laboratory facilities to evaluate green iron technologies using custom equipment (electrochemical testing stations and rigs).
Follow operating procedures and safety protocols.Support activity risk assessments and create a safe working environment.Use various laboratory-based techniques to support team members performing qualitative and quantitative analysis and characterisation of samples, raw materials, reagents, and products.Ensure ongoing cleanliness and maintenance of laboratory instruments, including assisting in tracking laboratory supplies (materials, chemicals, consumables, and waste disposal).
Data collection and recording and documentation of activities to facilitate progress tracking.Support handovers between shifts.About you:Background in industrial chemistry, mineral processing, electrochemistry, or materials science preferred.Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. materials science, electrochemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, or similar).
Research experience desirable.Experience handling hazardous materials in a laboratory environment essential.Proven ability to safely set up, run, and monitor test systems/equipment/control systems, including undertaking steps to troubleshoot.
Experience in the liquid/slurry space desirable.Hands-on demonstration of building and disassembling mechanical fittings.Experience with data and document test procedure entry.Experience in electrochemistry with research experience desirable.Experience working across various team structures advantageous.Competency in Advanced First Aid and Fire Warden desirable.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, working with an enthusiastic and can-do attitude.Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiativeHighly effective team playerNeed more information:Please contact John on ************ or Joanna on ************.
