Join the team We are seeking a Head of Internal Communications and Events to design and deliver innovative communication strategies across the Kmart Group.
This is a senior leadership role that will partner closely with executives and leaders across Kmart, Target, and Anko to inspire and engage our team members, strengthen our culture, and bring our values to life.
You'll lead a small team, across Australia and abroad, and work with agencies and partners to deliver impactful campaigns, events, and messaging that ensure every team member is connected, informed, and empowered to do their best work.What you'll be doing Internal Communications Strategy: Develop and execute enterprise-wide internal communication strategies aligned to our Group purpose, ambition, and values.
Channel Leadership: Manage events, written and digital channels to ensure communication is engaging, consistent, and impactful.
Executive Partnering: Advise and support the Group Managing Director, leadership teams, and senior executives to ensure effective storytelling and engagement across all brands.
Agency & Partnership Management: Work with external agencies and partners to deliver high-quality, on-brand campaigns and events.
Team Leadership: Lead and coach a high-performing communications team, ensuring capability development and continuous improvement.
Culture & Engagement: Drive initiatives that build team member engagement and embed Kmart's values of integrity, growth, collaboration, customer focus, and care.
Safety & Accountability: Champion safe ways of working and ensure internal communications support a strong safety culture.
To be successful in this role you'll have: Degree qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, or business.
10+ years' experience in communications leadership roles within large, complex organisations (retail, banking, or telecommunications experience advantageous).
Strong track record in advising and influencing senior executives.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing large-scale internal communication strategies.
Experience leading, managing, and developing teams.
Exceptional written, verbal, and storytelling skills, with expertise in digital and event communications.
Proven ability to manage external agencies and deliver high-impact campaigns.
Excellent stakeholder management, organisational, and project leadership skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities, work at pace, and deliver results with attention to detail.
High levels of confidentiality, judgement, and resilience.
