About the role Reporting to the Division Support Officer, this role will oversee and enable a fit-for-purpose test and calibration operational facility in the Science Division, including guiding and upskilling lab users on lab safety, quality, and culture.
Your duties may include but are not limited to: Managing laboratory operations, compliance, audits, and safety programs.
Implementing and managing programs to ensure compliance with laboratory standards, operating models, accreditations, and regulatory requirements in a government environment.
Conducting compliance checks, inspections, and reporting for OHS and WHS legislation, regulations, and policies.
Developing, streamlining, and implementing overarching policies and procedures for laboratory operations.
Overseeing and implementing a quality management system, conducting routine inspections, tests, and audits, and documenting findings and recommendations, supporting corrective actions.
Planning and overseeing the laboratory's budget, including equipment and supplies procurement.
Supporting asset management, planning, registration, decommissioning, procurement, and contract management where required.
About you : A relevant tertiary degree or qualifications in a science-related field is desirable.
Experience in operating a facility to laboratory safety and quality standards.
Advanced knowledge of implementing and using a Quality Management System is highly regarded.
Advanced knowledge of ISO IEC 17025, ISO 14001 standards, principles, and practices.
A broad understanding of environmental regulations is desirable.
Strong communication and organization skills, with the ability to prioritize across multiple demands.
Proven ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive team, with a commitment to delivering organizational priorities.
