**About the Opportunity**

As a key support to the Program Director SUBSAFE, the Surveillance Program ensures independent SUBSAFE assurance across all ASC Submarine Programs, internal operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers. Through rigorous audits, product and capability assessments across the Submarine Build and Sustainment Value Chain, the Surveillance Program drives compliance, alignment with contractual requirements and delivery of SUBSAFE Program best practice.

Focusing on SUBSAFE Material, SUBSAFE Certification Boundary and Safety-Critical Equipment and Systems — the Surveillance Program monitors compliance, performance and trends.

The SUBSAFE Surveillance Manager will lead the ASC SUBSAFE Surveillance Team in delivering the assurance needed to meet all build and sustainment SUBSAFE Program requirements.

Full-time, permanent role based in Henderson, WA or Osborne, SA.

**Responsibilities**
- Develop and lead the SUBSAFE Surveillance Program to align with ASC and RAN strategy, focusing on Technical Systems & Standards, and Compliance, Process & Change Management
- Set clear, and actionable goals to ensure delivery of program objectives within the organisational unit
- Identify potential risks to SUSBAFE Program Compliance and develop mitigation strategies for these, including developing programs and initiatives which address concerns proactively
- Oversee and manage all technical surveillance activities on submarines, ensuring compliance with operational standards and protocols
- Analyse surveillance data to identify potential threats or issues and prepare detailed reports for senior management and relevant stakeholders
- Work closely with other departments, including engineering, operations, and security, to ensure seamless integration of surveillance activities
- Work closely with the SUBSAFE Improvement Program across Technical Systems and Standards Management, Compliance, Process and Change Management

**About you**
- Degree or equivalent experience in an applicable field (engineering, safety, business)
- Track record of demonstrated capabilities in managing quality, certification, safety or environmental management systems
- Demonstrated engineering knowledge of systems or equipment onboard ships and/or submarines
- In-depth knowledge of SUBSAFE and Defence Seaworthiness requirements (or equivalents)
- Significant experience in effective implementation of management systems in a complex environment similar to submarines or shipbuilding operations/maintenance
- Experienced in the effective leadership and management of a team of people
- Demonstrated success in an influencing 'compliance' role
- Experience of operating in a complex project working environment

**Eligibility**

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
