**The Opportunity**

The new Recreation and Open Space Department is responsible for the provision and management of a broad range of sport and recreation facilities and over 150 open spaces in Maribyrnong.

We are looking for an appropriately qualified Recreation Planner who will focus on sport and recreation to support the work of the Department's Planning team.

Reporting to the Coordinator Recreation and Open Space Planning, this role is integral to supporting and coordinating the development of sport and recreation strategies, policies and plans that will provide the capacity for increased levels of physical activity and higher quality sport and recreation facilities across the municipality.

**Key Responsibilities**

The Recreation Planner will be responsible for:

- Coordinating and implementing sport and recreation projects through the planning, feasibility, and master plan phases
- Gathering data to identify industry trends and emerging issues that will inform future sport and recreation priorities.
- Undertaking and contributing to research and analysis of the community's expectations, needs and demands relating to the provision of sport and recreation facilities.
- Collaborating with other Council departments in the planning of projects and the facilitation of public consultation and community engagement regarding sport and recreation proposals.

- experience in community consultation and stakeholder management.
