Job Title: Recreation Planner

We are seeking an experienced Recreation Planner to join our team and contribute to the provision and management of sport and recreation facilities and open spaces in Maribyrnong.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to work collaboratively with our Planning team to develop and implement strategies, policies and plans that promote increased levels of physical activity and high-quality sport and recreation facilities across the municipality.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating and implementing sport and recreation projects through planning, feasibility and master plan phases;
  • Gathering data to identify industry trends and emerging issues that inform future sport and recreation priorities;
  • Undertaking and contributing to research and analysis of community expectations, needs and demands relating to the provision of sport and recreation facilities;
  • Collaborating with other Council departments in the planning of projects and facilitation of public consultation and community engagement regarding sport and recreation proposals.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of sport and recreation services and facilities;
  • The ability to think strategically, analyse complex situations, develop creative solutions and achieve outcomes;
  • The ability to develop effective working relationships to gain cooperation and assistance within an organisation;
  • Experience in community consultation and stakeholder management.
