Seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Officer to work for a State Government team

**Your new company**

A major State Government department based in a Western suburb near Perth CBD, is seeking an experience Occupational Health and Safety Officer to manage workforce health and safety across the department. This department has free parking available on site, and also provides a company car for when site visits around Perth are required. You will be required to work full-time hours, on an initial temporary engagement with potential of a fixed-term opportunity on offer. Ideally you will be able to start immediately.

**Your new role**

As the OHS Officer you will be responsible for managing health and safety measures across the internal and external workforce across multiple Perth based sites. Your duties will include:

- Coordination of the WHS Program, including reviewing, developing and implementing WHS systems, policies and procedures
- Manage worker compensation claims, incident investigations and develop preventative strategies
- Collect and manage information and reports relating to hazards, injuries, audits and compliance
- Coordinate and delivery training programs and information sessions around OHS practices, risk management and injury prevention
- Update and monitor the internal database, logging injury management claims accurately

**What you'll need to succeed**

In order to be considered for this role, you will demonstrate experience within an Occupational / Workforce Health & Safety position, ideally within a Government department. You will also display:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Practical understanding and knowledge on workers compensation and injury management legislation
- Excellent data entry accuracy and attention to detail
- A current 'C' or 'CA' driving licence
