**Location: Parramatta (Hybrid working between office and home)**

**Full time hours, contract till end of June with possible extension.**

The Client:
An exciting opportunity to work within a NSW government sector that brings together specialists in urban and regional planning, natural resources, industry, environment, heritage, Aboriginal and social housing, and crown lands and water.

Primary purpose of the role:
You will be employed to undertake research, contribute to policy development and contribute data to inform evidence-based policy analysis and advice to develop high quality planning and policy projects, with the support of managers and senior staff. You will receive guidance and advice from the senior manager or senior Policy Planning officer.

Key accountabilities:

- Undertake straight forward research tasks, analyze and evaluate issues and data to formulate appropriate responses to contribute to options for the resolution of new and emerging issues.
- Prepare relevant Departmental documentation, such as briefing notes, responses to correspondence, project reports and legislative drafting instructions.
- Support the Senior Manager and Director to build and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance engagement, consultation and negotiation on the team's policy program
- Support staff and managers to manage work performed by external contractors and consultants to achieve project objectives

Key challenges:

- Providing well-researched and balanced information in a high-volume environment with competing priorities and tight timeframes.
- Responsible for setting and organizing your own work priorities within designated timeframes.

Essential requirements:

- Degree in planning, public policy or any other related field.
