**Position Summary**:
The Engineering Manager (Sr. Manager of Software Engineering) oversees and coordinates the people, resources, and processes required to deliver new software or upgrade existing products. They achieve all or most of their goals through delegation to their team. The Sr. Manager coaches and mentors their direct reports in a way that results in high growth. They have a high amount of influence on their team as well as within their broader organization. The Sr. Manager moves past being only tactical but is strategic in the way they run their team. They command a high degree of trust and remove obstacles so that their team can attain optimal performance. The Sr. Manager provides direct leadership in delivering critical or at-risk projects.

This role will be based in our office in Brisbane CBD, in a hybrid work environment.

**Essential Responsibilities and Percentage of Time Spent (includes, but is not limited to)**:

- Strategically grow, manage, and develop a team highly skilled team of Software Engineers (e.g., hiring, mentoring, developing, giving performance reviews, giving feedback at weekly 1:1 meetings)
- Lead projects to completion.
- Influence the team and broader organisation by providing technical advice during the planning of complex solutions.
- Document solutions so that information can be easily disseminated to the Engineering team.
- Contribute to projects and software releases.
- Coordinates and manages on-call rotations.

**Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies**:

- At least eight (8) years of software development experience.
- At least two (2) years of software management experience.
- Passionate about managing software developers.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles.
- Proven experience developing people to meet both their career goals and the organisation's goals.
- Ability to paint a compelling picture of the vision and strategy that motivates others to action and proactively anticipate future needs.
- Ability to discern the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Proven experience collaborating with international teams and stakeholders.
