With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role DescriptionAs a Technical Director within the Energy & Resources team, you will play a pivotal leadership role in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects, leveraging your expertise in the Australian T&D sector to drive business growth and deliver impactful outcomes.Role accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Provide civil, electrical and structural leadershipand oversight for Transmission and Substation projects, from concept development to final detailed designs.Offer technical supportto team members to ensure high-quality project delivery.Prepare, review, and approvetechnical reports, drawings and plans for Transmission and Substation projects (up to 500kV preferred).
Develop project scopes, estimates, budgets and schedulesfor all components of Transmission and Substation projects.Guide material selection and safety reviewsduring design and constructability phases, providing oversight to ensure compliance and efficiency.Provide technical leadership on Transmission structure geometries, structure modelling and line hardware.Drive business development and sales effortsfor large CAPEX projects, engaging prospective clients and expanding the project portfolio.Contribute to bid preparationby providing key design inputs, estimating design hours, and assembling large tenders effectively.Foster strong relationshipswith internal teams, offices, and external organisations, building a professional reputation for both yourself and Arcadis within the industry.Deepen client understandingby maintaining up-to-date knowledge of their business, drivers, competitors, and industry trends to build rapport, trust, and opportunities for repeat and new business.Qualifications & ExperienceFirst and foremost, you share our passion for improving the quality of life.

You will come to us with:15+ years' experience working on Transmission and Substation projectsRelevant engineering degree with Chartered and RPEQ/RPEV status or equivalent professional accreditationPrevious experience in the Australian power industry such as working for an engineering firm or Australian Transmission utilitySignificant consulting experience on projects of significant scale and complexity.Demonstrated technical, commercial and delivery acumen.Proficient in design of steel structures, concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundation designA detailed understanding of Line Design Principles and relevant Australian Standards e.g. AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 7000, AS/NZS 1170, AS 4100 & ASCE 10-15 design standardRelevant line design experience and proficient use of PLS CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS POLE, Microstran, SpaceGassRelevant lattice tower design and modelling experienceProficient in line layout design, pole top geometry design, Insulator assembly design, conductor and line rating studies, noise and induction studies, pole foundation DesignKnowledge of GIS, LiDAR and advanced survey techniques for line routingKnowledge of construction considerations and maintenance load evaluationsProficient in various foundation types including drilled piers, spread footers, and transformer padsKnowledge and understanding of underground transmission design processes, calculations and drawingsKnowledge and understanding of civil engineering site development practices such as site planning, grading, excavation, drainage, roadways as related to substations facilities, transmission facilities and right-of-ways.Proficient in substation structure design, rigid bus design, foundation design, oil spill containment design, retaining walls, masonry control shelters, and firewallsFamiliarity with power system and earthing modelling softwareProven ability to lead project teams with strong skills in influencing, motivating, and delegating; paired with excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities, both internally and externally.Why Arcadis?
