The Department of Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead our Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit (EPRU).
As Director, you will drive the development and implementation of emergency preparedness initiatives across the Tasmanian health system, ensuring readiness for a wide range of emergency scenarios.In this pivotal role, you will provide high-level strategic and policy advice to senior executives, including the Chief Risk Officer, and represent the Department in multi-agency and inter-jurisdictional emergency management forums.
You will lead a program of work that strengthens emergency planning, response, and recovery capabilities, while fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at state, national, and international levels.This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of health emergency management in Tasmania.You will need to:Provide specialist strategic and policy advice to the Deputy Secretary Clinical Quality, Regulation and Accreditation (CQRA) & Chief Medical Officer, Secretary DoH, Director of Public Health, Health Executive, and other key stakeholders on matters relating to emergency preparedness and response, and the security of critical health service and corporate infrastructure and resources.Provide direction to the Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit and leads implementation of the DoH emergency preparedness and response program, projects, and initiatives, including an Agency-wide emergency risk register and exercise management schedule to test and validate DoH emergency plans and procedures and continually improve the DoH approach to emergency preparedness, response and recovery.Provide specialist strategic policy and planning advice on emergency preparedness and response issues to all areas of the health system that have responsibility for, or involvement in, health service delivery or corporate support functions across the areas of emergency prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery (PPRR).
