As part of our ongoing digital transformation, we are seeking a Data Governance and Architecture Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the College's data strategy.
This is a rare opportunity to combine strategic influence with hands-on technical delivery, while leading MLC into a new era of trusted, well-governed, and high-impact data.
Responsibilities Lead MLC's data maturity journey, including the design and rollout of our Microsoft Fabric Data Lake and data migration initiatives.
Build and embed frameworks, standards, and governance models to ensure data is accurate, secure, and strategically leveraged.
Design and deliver modern data solutions, pipelines, and integrations that meet business and user needs.
Provide expert technical ownership of MLC's data architecture, while optimising databases for performance, scalability, and compliance.
Partner with College leaders and external consultants to champion a culture of data-driven decision making.
Mentor and uplift data capability across the College, embedding continuous improvement practices.
About you You are a highly skilled data practitioner who enjoys both strategy and delivery.
You bring technical depth alongside the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
You'll thrive in a role where you can set frameworks, roll up your sleeves, and make a lasting impact.
Key skills and experience Strong experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles, with hands-on expertise in enterprise data platforms.
Proven delivery of data lakes, warehouses, pipelines, and governance frameworks.
Proficiency in SQL, data modelling, and modern programming languages such as Python, R, or Spark.
Practical understanding of metadata management, compliance, and data quality frameworks.
Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex data concepts in plain language.
Experience with Microsoft M365, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric or Purview is highly desirable.
