Why this role matters

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a values-driven Casual Assistant Thrift Shop Manager, to assist the Thrift Shop Manager to lead and develop the store to maximize profits and strengthen links between thrift shops, Community Support Service, wider community, and Corps. This role will have supervisory responsibilities of volunteers.

The role you could play
- Understand the processing of donations to the store by receiving, sorting, pricing, hanging of saleable goods and disposal of non-saleable goods
- Implement stock rotation and stock management processes to ensure optimal store stock levels are maintained to maximize sales and revenue
- Deliver excellence in customer service
- Oversight of store operation on Saturdays. Including and not only, opening and closing, leading the volunteers., and making the store a great place for customers to shop
- Supervise volunteers and attend to rostering when Manager is on leave
- Fill in as acting Manager when Store manager in on leave
- Be willing to learn all aspects of the running of a Thrift Shop.
- Assist with the store financial processes including completion of daily cash reconciliation, preparation of cash floats and banking
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all store finance/sales records and submit to authorized persons for processing
- Lead a safe workplace through the ongoing promotion of work health and safety standards
- Ensure the cleaning and maintenance of store and facilities are upheld

This is a casual position located in Ringwood. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the General Retail Industry Award Level 4.

What we're looking for
- Experience in team management is essential
- Merchandising and store presentation skills
- Experience managing stock
- Retail management experience is highly desirable
- Experience working and managing volunteers preferred
- Basic working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
