This will include, in collaboration with the Manager and WHS Leads:

- Managing and continually improving the department's work health and safety management system including all corporate policies, procedures, tools and education programs.
- Providing influential expert advice and leadership on a range of work health and safety issues and matters.
- Facilitating a program of effective governance and assurance for identified work health and safety risks.
- Overseeing the implementation of a range of strategic initiatives and projects throughout department.

**What you will do**:

- Build and maintain professional client relationships and networks to create working partnerships and a high level of understanding of client needs to facilitate quality WHS culture and leadership practices throughout the Department.
- Lead the continued enhancement and development of the department's WHS Management System.
- Provide consultancy services and advice to business groups and senior officers in addressing WHS matters through leadership, culture and contemporary systems of work.
- Represent DAF at departmental and whole-of-government forums, committees, and communities of practice to ensure appropriate participation and outcomes for WHS.
- Contribute to the evaluation of WHS initiatives and programs to ensure these are directed to supporting the department's business outcomes.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of contemporary health and safety management practices focused on both systems and culture.,
- Coach, mentor and support your team and WHS business leads to create a high performing, flexible and supportive working environment.
- Undertake research and analysis of organisational data to identify trends, opportunities, issues and challenges, centering on WHS.
- Prepare comprehensive and sensitive reports, submissions, briefs and other correspondence of a substantial and complex nature in relation to a range of human resources issues.
