**About the role**

Based at our global headquarters in Adelaide and reporting to the HSE Manager Midstream, the Health & Safety Team lead provides HSE leadership to support Midstream assets including brownfield projects (Operations) and to ensure they are meeting their HSE obligations.

This position will drive continuous improvement in HSE performance and promote Health & Safety awareness and initiatives throughout the Operations team. Along with this the Health & Safety Team Lead will provide specialist workplace occupational safety and health expertise and when required environmental support, to assist operations in achieving a strong HSE culture and meeting regulatory requirements.

Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values and Santos Management System (SMS).

Key accountabilities of the role include though are not limited to:

- Provide support to the HSE Manager Midstream and Midstream assets to ensure that improvement measures are implemented if HSE Performance is found to be non-compliant.
- Provide oversight of HSE performance, risks, and delivery to ensure operations are conducted in accordance with safety and environmental approvals requirements and the Santos Management System (SMS).
- Facilitate the development of Santos Midstream HSE and production Improvement plans and drive the implementation of the outcomes, including progress reviews against HSE improvement plans to determine if they have been/are effective and on track.
- Conduct other duties as directed by HSE Manager and Production Manager.
- Provide general direction, guidance, and mentorship for team members to assist them in providing HSE support and oversight for the Operations Department
- Identify and source appropriate resources to provide the required levels of HSE support for the Operations Department work scope.
- Provide oversight of the use of the HSE Information Management System to ensure quality and consistent outcomes from incident investigations and audits to maximise learnings and promote continuous improvement.
- Provide oversight of incident investigations and inspections/audits ensuring to satisfactory closure.
- Ensure the reporting of notifiable incidents or dangerous occurrences to Legislative bodies/regulators is completed within the required times.
- Ensure all required regulatory HSE approvals are in place to cover the scope of operations being performed.
- Ensure timely submission of annual compliance reports to the relevant regulators.
- Provide input into the development of the annual assurance schedule and drive the execution of the schedule to verify compliance with the Santos management system.
- Provide support to production asset managers in the coordination and facilitation of external/ regulatory audits and inspections.
- Facilitate/participate in incident investigations & HSE audits for production facilities as required.
- Facilitate regular review of HSE performance using trend analysis of incident and audit data, identify HSE focus areas and make recommendations to production management and HSE Manager Midstream to improve HSE performance where and when necessary.
- Advise on/plan HSE objectives, metrics and targets for the production department based on corporate and departmental objectives, benchmarking data and other critical business drivers.
- Facilitate regular review of HSE performance using trend analysis of incident and audit data, identify HSE focus areas and make recommendations to Operations management to improve HSE performance where an
