**Job Description**:

We specialise in the manufacture and supply of rigid plastic and metal packaging, materials handling and pooling solutions, contract manufacturing services, recycling and sustainability services, servicing both consumer and industrial sectors.

**The Role**

This role is responsible for managing the **optimal delivery of Pact's Energy and Utility needs globally** and to work closely with our sustainability team. Working within our centralised Group Procurement team, the **Energy & Utilities Category Manager** will be responsible for leading Pact's push to reducing our energy consumption, purchasing energy optimally and helping Pact achieve our stated carbon reduction targets (50% reduction in Australia and New Zealand by 2030). This will be achieved through assessment of renewable energy proposals (solar / battery / offsite PPAs). You will take a category management mindset to all utilities be very active in supplier relationship management and sourcing activities. You'll develop category plans and execute sourcing and procurement activities for an annual spend of circa $100M.

**Accountabilities**:

- Develop and execute a robust end-to-end Category Management strategy across all Utilities spend and ensuring alignment with Pact business objectives and key stakeholders
- Identify and execute energy purchasing opportunities through our progressive purchasing contracts or via long term fixed deals (in conjunction with our energy consultants)
- Use your engineering mindset to review energy optimisation and renewable energy proposals to assist with our commitment to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 50 % In Australia and New Zealand by 2030
- Lead and drive supplier relationships
- Ensuring key aspects relating to risk management, quality, ethical sourcing, sustainability and legal compliance are considered in line with Pact Group policies
- Day-to-day management of Energy contracts across various regulated and de-regulated markets

**About you**:
We are looking for a driven and collaborative procurement professional passionate about energy, Your energy mindset will have a balance between commercial and environmental. You will be able to assess ways of reducing consumption in our 80+ plants. You will be able to understand the costs and benefits of renewables and where they are most cost effective. You understand the regulatory frameworks regarding renewable energy certificates. You thrive in complex environments and pride yourself on developing strong working relationships across the business.

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

- 5+ years in the electricity sector
- Proven experience and knowledge of energy and gas procurement and contract management
- Proven experience and knowledge of progressive purchasing contracts
- Demonstrable experience assessment of offsite PPAs, renewable energy opportunities such as rooftop solar and batteries
- Problem-solving ability & commercial acumen, understanding the impact of decision making on the business
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical ability, utilising data to create meaningful and useful intelligence
- Highly numerate and analytical with a degree in a science / engineering / economics / similar discipline
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence key stakeholders
