Sport Field Officer

Mornington Peninsula Shire is Victoria's destination municipality, characterised by unique townships, highly productive agriculture, world renowned landscapes, tourist regions, and areas of national and international conservation significance within a vital Green Wedge.

The Shire is responsible for a broad range of infrastructure and services for the community, that support the wellbeing and prosperity of our diverse community. With approximately 900 employees, Mornington Peninsula Shire is a vibrant, busy and dynamic workplace.

The Infrastructure Services Unit is responsible for the delivery of the Shire's maintenance services including roads, buildings and open space, worth approximately $55 million per year. We also deliver renewal programs, manage the Shire's assets and protect its biodiversity. This is an exciting time for the Unit, as we transition to a new service delivery model and begin the tender process for the maintenance service contracts.

- Ensuring Shire maintained sports fields are fit for purpose, safe for employees and community users, well maintained and meet legislative requirements.

**About the role**

The Infrastructure Serivices team is seeking someone with turf management knowledge and practical experience who is passionate and understands the sportsfield industry standards to work with the Open Space team.

The Sportsfield officer will ensure that the Shire maintained sports fields and open space surrounds comply with legislative requirements and Australian Standards, by monitoring the Contractor's delivery of maintenance activities, annual programs and projects with a focus on optimum turf cover, mínimal weed and pest impacts on the sports fields and irrigation systems are functional. All works should ensure that the sports fields are:

- Fit for purpose
- Provide safe environments for employees and community users.
- Maintained in a manner which provides value for money expended
- Meet all related legislative requirements

The Sportsfield officer is required to actively work towards continuous improvement while working with the Open Space team and Infrastructure Services Leadership Team on monthly reporting, performance surveillance, program delivery and customer service

Core responsibilities include:

- Inspect, monitor and report on quality and performance
- Develop programs to ensure functional usage in consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the management and performance of open space maintenance contracts in line with agreed KPIs
- Identify and manage key corporate and safety risks associated with the management of Council assets.
- Ensure timely and person focused customer service is delivered at all times

**Skills, experience, and other requirements**
- Certificate III Irrigation or 2 Years + experience in irrigation installation or maintenance
- A tertiary qualification in turf management, or other relevant open space area is preferred, or several years of practical experience.
- Basic knowledge of contract management and reporting.
- Experience and aptitude for interacting with customers, stakeholders and others in relation to issues with contractor or asset performance
