**The Opportunity**:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Research and Strategic Knowledge Consultant to join our Sydney Planning team to identify new and innovative ways of researching and disseminating information for market leading insights.
As a Research and Strategic Knowledge Consultant, there is a requirement to demonstrate an understanding of statutory and strategic urban planning policy and contribute to driving the ongoing profitable business growth and development of our NSW Urban Planning (NSWUP) team. This will be achieved through assisting the Research & Strategic Knowledge Manager identify emerging trends in urban planning policy and the broader development industry and assist with research projects which support thought leadership and profile enhancement of the team and individuals
**You will**:
Supporting the NSW Planning Directors and team in identifying and undertaking targeted research to support and improve the quality and depth of:
Assisting to identify and communicate changing or emerging planning policy and legislative amendments and development issues to the NSWUP team and our clients;
Assisting in monitoring ongoing planning policy development that will impact planning and development in NSW;
Understanding of the planning framework and factors influencing planning outcomes; across NSW and with a focus on improving the quality of outputs for development projects being undertaken by team members;
Client Project and internal presentations;
Presentations or speeches made to industry conferences or client seminars and
More general policy or research-based projects;
Working collaboratively with our team and the Urbis Brand & Client team to:
- Provide input into regular client focused 'multi-channel' alerts;
- Support and guide NSWUP in the identification of business development activity with a view to generate new business opportunities;
- Lead client presentations, where appropriate, to support business development plans.
- Assist in the preparation of media releases (and the like) in providing an "Urbis view" to facilitate timely positions and responses to planning issues;
- Contribute to our Planning marketing collateral; and
- Supporting the delivery of national client and sector focus initiatives, working collaboratively with peers within interstate offices;
- Tender management / coordination may be required on an ad hoc basis;
**About You**:
- Tertiary qualifications in Urban/Town Planning or a related discipline
- Relevant experience, ideally gained in a consultancy environment
- Demonstrates an advanced capability in research and analysis of town planning matters;
- Proficient appreciation and understanding of statutory planning frameworks, controls and processes;
- Proficient appreciation and understanding of strategic policies, processes and influences;
- Good knowledge and understanding of impacts and issues affecting on land use and development;
- Considerable skills and experience in preparing for and presenting effectively in a variety of forums;
