The world needs more Intrepid people: Do you have experience within touring/guiding, in-depth knowledge of the travel landscape and destinations in Australia plus fantastic organisational skills? If so, we are on the hunt for a Deputy Operations Manager to ensure our adventures are brought to life and be behind the scenes ensuring every trip runs smoothly. You will be the key support to our Tour Guides and empower them to create safe, and life changing experiences for all our travellers. This role is about people on a day to day basis, from scheduling our Tour Leaders, to mentoring and developing the team, you will make sure they have everything they need to deliver.
The responsibilities will span from people to planning. With no day the same, you will be preparing logistics of our journeys, planning and executing camp site purchasing and builds, as well as managing licensing and compliance. On the people side, you will be coaching our leaders, supporting on the road incidents and analysing/actioning tour reports and feedback to ensure the highest quality of service and safety. This is a full time, 12 month contract position which can be based anywhere in Australia, with some requirement for travel nationally.
Responsibilities
Plan and manage logistics for journeys, including site purchases and builds, and ensure licensing and compliance.
Coach and mentor Tour Leaders and guides, support on road incidents, and analyse tour reports and feedback to drive safety and quality.
Schedule and develop the team to ensure they have what they need to deliver.
Qualifications
3 + years' experience in the travel industry preferably as a Tour Leader or leading/guiding group travel
Extensive travel experience and knowledge of Western Australia, including the Kimberley, Karijini, Exmouth as well as the south west
A great passion for responsible travel
Management coaching / training experience desirable
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with Trip Leaders, colleagues, and other stakeholders
Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks, prioritise responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
