Mine Deputy
This is an excellent career opportunity to join the site leadership of a unique coal mining operation in regional Tasmania. The Cornwall Coal Company operates underground and open cut coal mines and a coal processing plant in North Eastern Tasmania (Fingal). Fingal is ~1.5 hours from Launceston and ~20-35 minutes from the beautiful coastal towns of St. Marys and Scamander.
Cornwall Coal produce approximately 400,000 tonnes of coal each year, supplying the Cement Australia Railton operation and the majority of Tasmania's general coal requirements. Employing over 70 people, Cornwall Coal represents one of the major industries in the region and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cement Australia (CA).
This is a Monday to Friday, three shift operation focused on providing reliable, consistent quality coal to meet customer needs rather than the more typical high-volume focus of traditional coal mining operations. As a strategic asset of CA, the success of Cornwall Coal is critical and, as such, you will have the opportunity to make a difference and assist in achieving the underground mine's operational goals.
**About the role**:

You will also ensure the oncoming Deputy is briefed on the status of your work area in relation to safety and compliance and that relevant shift reports are completed.
You will ensure that in your area of responsibility mine site activities are undertaken in compliance with the requirements of the relevant statutes and standards; liaise with the Undermanager and other Deputies to achieve Business Plan Targets and achieve production, quality, resourcing and cost targets, as set out in the Mine Business Plan, by effective planning, scheduling and leadership.
**About you**:
- An absolute commitment to safety
- Previous underground coal mining experience in Place change and extraction operations is highly desirable
- Mine Deputy Certificate of Competency - required
- Works well in a team environment
- Demonstrated understanding of basic risk management
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results in an underground coal mining environment
**Our Offer**
Mine Deputies are covered by the Cornwall Coal Enterprise Agreement at the Appointed Level. Remuneration comprises a base salary and superannuation based on a 35 hour week, 8.75 hours per day, Monday - Thursday (a 4 day week) as standard with an expectation of reasonable overtime (compensated). There is also eligibility for production bonus payments. Leave provisions are in line with the Black Coal Mining Industry Award.
**How to Apply**
**Build your dream career and lifestyle with one of Australia's largest and most respected cement manufacturers and innovators.
