What to Expect
Tesla is seeking an experienced electrical technician to maintain and service utility-scale battery sites, primarily focusing on the Tesla Megapack battery storage product.
You will join the technician team responsible for supporting the maintenance of battery storage sites in the Williamsdale region, where you will service, troubleshoot, and upgrade medium to high voltage equipment.
You will be part of a high-performing and close-knit on-site team, with a positive attitude toward building a career in the renewable energy infrastructure sector.
Occasional travel to support other regional sites may be required.
What You'll Do
As an Electrical Technician, you will troubleshoot and repair equipment as defined by the service engineering team.
You will perform complex electro-mechanical debugging, rework, and repairs, undertaking tasks that require a high level of skill and patience.
Your role will involve working across Powerpack and Megapack Utility sites to ensure operations and maintenance requirements are met and the fleet performs optimally.
You should be comfortable working in Medium and High Voltage environments with a strong focus on safety.
You will operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and LV/MV/HV testing equipment for diagnosis and troubleshooting.
You will develop and adhere to best practices and procedures for maintenance activities related to Tesla Energy equipment.
Clear communication is essential, including daily updates on work completed, problems identified, and future timelines within the Tesla Energy service organization.
Flexibility is key; you may be required to provide support outside your region and potentially abroad.
You may perform other related duties to support growth and diversification across applications.
What You'll Bring
Certified Electrician (Cert III+ in Electrical/Electro Technology)
Minimum 5 years' experience, with at least 3 years' electrical maintenance experience, ideally within the Utility sector (Solar/Wind/Transmission experience preferred)
Up-to-date Electrical Registration/License
HV switching experience preferred
SCADA operating experience
Ability to work from complex and detailed documentation and/or verbal and written instructions
Strong computer skills, ability to utilise proprietary and 3rd party OEM software
Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings
Willingness to work outdoors, occasionally on the road at unusual hours
Valid driver's license
Knowledge of operation and maintenance of a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, test equipment
