**Patient Safety & Clinical Excellence Coordinator**
- **Full-time, permanent role (40 hours p/week inclusive of an ADO each month)**

**About the unit**:
**The Patient Safety & Clinical Excellence Unit is located within the Directorate of the Chief Medical Officer and provides leadership and oversight of systems and processes that enable the delivery of safe, effective and appropriate care for our patients.**

**About the role**:
As the Patient Safety & Clinical Excellence Coordinator you will work in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager, Divisional Manager & Clinical Director of Mary Guthrie House of the Mental Health Division, providing leadership that will drive performance improvement and innovation, and ensuring the services focus on patient safety and quality.

A regular day will see you:

- Support high quality incident management review activities (adverse events, in depth case reviews, aggregate incident reviews, root cause analysis)
- Review and recommend improvements to systems and processes to enable timely and effective identification, investigation, management, monitoring and internal/external reporting of clinical incidents
- Coordinate best practice standards in consumer engagement, consumer experience and patient-centred care across Austin Health, to ensure a divisional culture that allows meaningful consumer partnership

**About you**:
You will be someone who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines. You'll enjoy engaging and collaborating with others, and influencing change at all levels within a large, complex organisation.

**Ideally you will have**:

- Graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, health services management or other relevant qualification(s)
- Knowledge and understanding of hospital accreditation process, eg National Standards for Safety and Quality in Healthcare
- Experience in developing, implementing and monitoring incident management systems, in particular undertaking incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Demonstrated ability to coach and supervise staff to undertake incident investigation using agreed methodology
- Extensive knowledge of a performance excellence approach to patient quality and safety management
