**About the organisation**
The Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research (the Institute) is a not-for-profit organisation located in Sydney's South West that conducts world-class medical research that is focused on and driven by the needs of the local community. While they focus on health challenges across Sydney's South West, they know local solutions can be scaled locally and in many cases globally.
The Institute operates in a unique collaboration with the South West Sydney Local Health District, Western Sydney University, and the UNSW Sydney. Through these collaborations, the Ingham Institute is working to radically transform health outcomes both locally and globally. The Institute is home to over 350 employees and affiliates, and five research areas led by global experts.
**About the Opportunity**
As the Head of Philanthropy, you will lead the success and implementation of the Institute's Philanthropy Strategy focused on deepening connections and relationships with the community and supporters to impact life-changing health initiatives and medical research.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior relationship manager to nurture and flourish relationships through every interaction with a range of engaged and influential stakeholders that include the CEO, The Research Director, Board Members, partnered medical research institutes, the South Western Sydney Local Health District and local community members.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop, nurture, and grow the connectivity, engagement and retention of key supporters for the Institute
- Implement the Ingham Institute's Philanthropy Strategy, while developing and implementing new fundraising initiatives that engage major donors and philanthropists
- Develop engagement and communication plans, donor strategies and proposals
- Identify prospects and manage the cultivation stewardship processes
- Deliver an engaging donor journey from approach to ask
- Conceptualise and project manage major gift donor events
- Maintain the database in relation to any philanthropic activity
- Grow and develop long-term and long-lasting relationships with donors, increasing their level of giving
- Work alongside a supportive and engaged CEO, Research Director and Board to continuously develop a strategic approach to the growth and development of the portfolio
- Manage budgets, targets and reporting for the major donor program
**Skills & Attributes**
- Proven success leading, developing and implementing strategic partnerships and relationship management initiatives in the not-for-profit or commercial sectors, ideally in a health-related field
- Demonstrated success in delivering outcomes through partnered relationships that meet strategic goals
- An influential and collaborative approach in building and maintaining strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Success in building a pipeline of donors or partnerships, and identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present and convey complex ideas or content to a variety of audiences
- Excellent time management, administrative and organisational skills with the ability to plan workload, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, report back and adapt to changing circumstances
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, continuous development, and knowledge sharing with the enthusiasm to make an impact across health and medical research initiatives that make a local and global impact
