Overview
LO-GO Appointments QLD is seeking an experienced Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator for temporary assignment with a regional QLD Council.
Position
This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with supervisors, crews, and contractors to ensure a safe and compliant workplace across a range of council operations.
You'll be responsible for hazard management, incident investigations, safety training, and return-to-work programs, as well as driving a positive safety culture in diverse and dynamic environments.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have :
Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety (or higher)
Minimum 5 years' experience in a WHS role, ideally within Local or State Government
Construction Industry Induction (Blue / White Card)
Current 'C' Class Driver Licence
Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and ability to apply it practically
Proven experience developing and implementing safety management systems
Skilled in incident response, investigations, and reporting
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Highly regarded: Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator qualification
Highly regarded: Experience conducting plant and machinery accreditations
Additional Information
To be considered, you must hold proven experience supporting WHS initiatives within a State and / or Local Government environment.
Hourly rate negotiable, depending on experience
Self-contained accommodation provided for the duration of the assignment
Travel costs covered at the start and end of the placement
