**Position Information**:
As a centre of expertise for the education of students with chronic illness, The Hospital School at Westmead provides evidence-based proactive and future-focused education to develop academic motivation and resilience.

The Hospital School provides education for students from K-12, and delivers content in either one of our four flexible, well-resourced learning spaces, by the students' bedside, located on the ward or by connected learning using telepresence technology.

The position will be a permanent placement as a 'site-based hearing support teacher', providing consultation and support for parents, children, educators, and relevant agencies. As a member of the Hospital School Learning and Support Team, you will be situated in and work as part of the Deafness Centre multi-disciplinary team of paediatricians, social worker, and allied health professionals at The Childrens Hospital at Westmead.

Responsibilities include supporting paediatricians during clinic appointments, advising families and schools, and collaborating with itinerant hearing teams. You will manage and work securely with data concerning educational considerations for diverse children with hearing loss. You will also create resources to support both the medical team and census schools and provide high impact feedback regarding educational provisions and school transitions. This is an important support role which is underpinned by Disability Standards for Education to support inclusivity.

**Selection Criteria**:

- Approval to teach Hearing Impairment Primary and Secondary.
- Experience in hearing support and able to provide expert advice on functional adjustments to support hearing across diverse learning environments.
- Knowledgeable about reasonable adjustments to the curriculum and DoE standard operating procedures, to suit the diverse needs of students who are Deaf and hard of hearing from age of diagnosis to Year 12.
- Comprehensive knowledge of DoE policies and practices, current trends in early intervention and education of children who are Deaf and hard of hearing, including sign, assistive technology, and augmentative communication programs.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills, thriving in a dynamic team environment.
