APG is currently seeking an experienced Category Manager for a contract within a Government Sector based in Sydney.
- Location: Sydney
- Start Date: ASAP
- $60 per hour excluding Super
- 40 hrs per week

**Primary purpose of the role**
The Category Manager is responsible for strategically developing and executing category strategies that realise value for money and high service outcomes for the Regional Maintenance Delivery Branch and Asset Maintenance Division.

**Key accountabilities**
- Lead the development and delivery of strategic category management programs that are safe, sustainable and deliver whole of life efficiency to the organisation.
- Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships to deliver incremental value-add solutions that Branch and Division outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with internal colleagues to strategically plan, capture and deliver sustainable whole-of-life effectiveness and efficiencies benefits.
- Contribute to the overall success of the Branch by identifying and developing innovative solutions that improve productivity and enhance internal customer satisfaction.
- Monitor business activity and requirements, to keep the Branch informed of industry and category trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide expert category management advice on the development of contemporary commercial contract arrangements that deliver optimal and sustainable outcomes for all parties.
- Champion supply market diversity and ethical and sustainable procurement practices.
- Ensure that Corporate, Division and Branch procedures, guidelines and practices are applied to deliver high quality workplace health & safety, environmental and quality management outcomes

**Key knowledge and experience**
- Demonstrated practical experience in contemporary category management and supplier performance management within a direct engineering environment.
- Proven experience in producing contractual outcomes which deliver whole-of-life benefits.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the early identification and applied mitigation of procurement, commercial and financial risk.
- High level written and verbal communication and negotiation skills that deliver strengthened relationships with internal and external customers.
- Well-developed problem solving, analytical and change management expertise that has resulted in positive and productive outcomes.
- Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety; Environmental; and Quality Management Systems and requirements in an engineering environment.
- Superior skills in the effective utilisation of procurement, knowledge management and project management computer-based tools and systems.

**Essential requirements**
- Professional procurement or supply chain qualifications, and/or extensive strategic procurement experience.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience.
