What's the job?
Due to retirement, our Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic is ready to pass on the baton to creating this incredible opportunity at Torrens University Australia and Think Education. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Academic will support the OVC with academic planning and implementation. Develop a collaborative governance structure and practice to meet regulatory requirements and facilitate a quality academic approach and practice.
Day-to-day accountabilities:
- Support the VC in academic planning and operationalization for the institution- Support the development and implementation of a Global Academic Delivery Model addressing the learning of students across all stages of the student academic lifecycle in an open-access and flexible learning environment.- Focus on developing a quality academic culture through collegial practice and processes across the institution- Represent the academic function in relevant internal and external academic structures and processes - including those of SEI - ensuring alignment and collaboration as appropriate- Build and maintain academic/L&T governance processes for the academic portfolio, aligned to university/TGES-wide policy and procedure- Develop appropriate academic capacity through recruitment and academic development of staff- Ensure excellent levels of access to academic information resources and academic development for students- Ensure high-quality, appropriately targeted, delivery to students- Play an active role in developing the curriculum and promoting continuous innovation to ensure relevance

This is a permanent position and can be based in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney.
Who you are
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A Doctoral qualification.- Deep knowledge of higher education in Australia and internationally.- Substantial and progressive experience in higher education leadership, with a minimum of 5 years in an executive position.- The strategic insight and vision to drive the academic performance of the university.- Exposure to the best-in-class academic practices and knowledge of academic governance.- Expertise in issues of student learning and success, including modern pedagogy, technology-enhanced learning, and adult learning.- Have a local and international outlook and a good understanding of global trends and opportunities in higher education.- Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with a strong business acumen.
